All of our peer institutions on a semester system start the fall term in late August/early September and end in December, prior to the winter break. They have a short fall break (1-3 weekdays) and a Thanksgiving break (2-5 weekdays). Our peers have an extra week or more of formal instruction, instead of the extended reading period that Princeton allows for students to consolidate their course work. They allow from 6 to 11 days for the examination period. Their spring term ends one to two weeks earlier than ours.
